During the 2024–2025 academic year, I took a planned year-long leave of absence to serve as one of my mother’s primary caregivers during her final months and to manage key family responsibilities after her passing. Acting as executor of her estate and supporting our extended family required my full attention.

This interval also provided space for focused professional renewal and strategic planning. I remained current on developments in educational leadership and used the time to deepen my understanding of emerging trends and best practices. I return with fresh insight, renewed energy, and an even stronger commitment to serving Michigan’s public school students.

With more than a decade left in my career, I am eager to join a district that embraces excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation—ideals that align with my professional values and the public-service tradition that has guided my family for generations.
