Kevin A. Kelly
Superintendency: Camden-Frontier Schools
Joint Principalship ~ Camden, Michigan
My tenure with Camden-Frontier School District was defined by the Coronavirus pandemic and the corresponding academic, social/emotional and staffing initiatives implemented by my leadership team. Through bold leadership at the board-level, the district achieved numerous ISD-leading successes on behalf of our students and families.
Under my leadership, Camden-Frontier developed and adopted a $2.8 million strategic recovery plan for 2021-2024. Guided by input from all stakeholders along with high-quality performance data assessments, the strategic plan created a system of multi-tiered academic and social emotional supports, targeted teacher-training and significant investments in technology, online learning and resource acquisition. The plan was the district's guiding vision through 2024.
My tenure was also marked by achieving full staffing through innovative recruitment and incentive programs, passage of a millage renewal by a 2:1 margin, negotiating landmark bargaining agreements, a $1.8 million HVAC project, securing a new fleet of busses, restructuring the business office and advancing board governance through extensive MASB training.
Lastly, the Camden-Frontier Board of Education adopted a new, race-neutral mascot on my recommendation after extensive community listening sessions and collaborations with Native American advocacy group, the Michigan Department of Education and the American Civil Liberties Union.
